An editor that gets out of the way

This list is a markdown document, open in Twiddle. Put the cursor in it and change something — tick a box, add a feature we don't have. It's your copy, and nothing is saved.

Plain .md files

Every note is a file. Every folder is a real folder. Point Twiddle at a vault you already have and it opens — no import, no export, no database holding your writing hostage.

Wiki-links and backlinks

Type Another note and it becomes a link, creating the file if it doesn't exist yet. Backlinks appear on their own, so the structure grows out of what you write instead of being planned first.

Tags that filter

A #tag anywhere in a note becomes a filter in the sidebar. Combine it with folders and you can slice one vault two ways at once.

The command palette

⌘P finds any note and runs any action, showing the shortcut beside it — so the palette teaches you the keyboard while you use it.

Task lists that behave

  • Type - [ ] and get a checkbox
  • Round-trip to plain markdown, exactly as written
  • Tick this one yourself

Maths, where you need it

Inline like , or set apart on its own line. It renders as you type rather than after you look away.

Five palettes, two modes

Paper, Slate, Ember, Graphite and Phosphor, each in light and dark. Follows your system by default; pin one if you'd rather decide for yourself.

Yours offline

A 16 MB native app on macOS and Windows, and an installable web app everywhere else. Nothing is uploaded to us.
